I am a Registered Psychologist in Vancouver providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for disordered eating, low mood, anxiety and addiction.
As a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#1637), the regulatory body for psychologists, you can be assured of my professional training and the high quality of care that I offer. I am a compassionate, nonjudgmental, caring therapist with over 15 years of experience in the assessment and treatment of adults across a variety of settings (e.g. hospital programs, outpatient clinics, and college campuses). |
In addition to my private therapy practice, I am a researcher at the St. Paul’s Hospital Eating Disorders Program in downtown Vancouver where I study applications of readiness and motivation models to the assessment and treatment of eating disorders. As a Clinical Associate of Simon Fraser University, I also supervise graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program. In addition, I write, speak, and offer workshops to train students, researchers, and health care providers about readiness to change and the theory, style, and techniques of brief motivational interventions for behaviour change.
I have written numerous articles and book chapters and have given over 60 presentations and training workshops. I regularly present research findings at international conferences, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and serve as a reviewer for a variety of psychological and medical journals and funding agencies.
I am an active member of a number of professional organizations, including the Canadian Psychological Association, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, and the Eating Disorder Research Society.

My Training
In 1998 received a Masters Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I researched physical activity, psychological health, and quality of life across the lifespan.
In 2004 I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle. There I studied stress and coping, particularly as it relates to athletic performance enhancement, and researched the co-occurrence of substance use, depression, disordered eating, and gambling. I also completed a one-year clinical internship in the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry.
In 2006 I completed a two-year Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. This Fellowship, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, was part of the Intersections of Mental Health Perspectives in Addictions Research Training, an innovative training program designed to equip health researchers to conduct analyses in addictions research with a focus on the intersections of mental health, trauma, and addictions.
