Erin Dunn Wallden, PhD
Vancouver Registered Psychologist (#1637)

Picture
I am a registered psychologist with a private therapy practice in Vancouver, BC.

I generally use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches to help adults who are struggling with issues such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship conflict and lifestyle balance.

Are you struggling with any of the following issues?

Negative Thoughts
Hopelessness, worthlessness, worry

Difficult Feelings
Depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, "stuck"

Unhealthy Behaviors
Disordered eating, excessive exercise, drinking

Major Life Transitions
Divorce, career change, illness/injury

Relationship Conflict
Partner, family, friends, colleagues

If so, therapy can help you to:

*  Understand the nature of the issues you are dealing with
*  Develop insight about where these difficulties came from
*  Learn skills to minimize the impact of these problems

so you feel better, improve your relationships & increase your quality of life!

Why Choose a Registered Psychologist for therapy?

Once you make a decision to seek help, it can be difficult to choose who to see. Many people claim to treat psychological problems, but not all of them are well-trained professionals in the mental health field.

Regardless of who you consult, it is important to ask if they are regulated – in other words, do they have a license to practice and are they accountable to a regulatory body, such as the College of Psychologists of BC?

When you choose a Registered Psychologist you can be assured that they have extensive formal training, supervision, and knowledge in their declared area of expertise; are expected to meet or exceed basic standards of practice and ethical responsibilities; and maintain an annual program of continuing education.

Once you have confirmed a psychologist's credentials, it is important to determine if he or she is right for you. It is critical that you have a positive and trusting relationship with any psychologist you choose to work with. One practitioner might be a good fit for one person, but not a good fit for someone else.

The best way to determine if a psychologist is right for you is to rely on your feelings: Does this person appear kind, understanding and non-judgmental?
Do you feel listened to?
If not, perhaps you need to consult with someone else, who might be a better fit.
