General Mental Health and Psychological Treatment Information

College of Psychologists of BC
The regulatory body for the profession of psychology in BC. The College's role is to protect the public interest 
by regulating the practice of psychology and monitoring the practice of psychology practitioners. This website 
contains information for the public about what you can expect when working with a psychologist, as well as the 
registration status of psychologists in BC.

Canadian Psychological Association
One of CPA's main objectives is to improve the health and welfare of all Canadians. This website offers 
information to the public about what to expect when seeing a psychologist and fact sheets about psychological 
treatment and mental health.

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre
This centre helps BC children, adults, and families connect with information and treatment resources for 
mental health issues, substance use, and disordered eating.

Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies
One of ABCT's goals is to increase public awareness and understanding of mental health difficulties, as 
well as to assist people with learning about and finding the most effective types of treatment. Resources for 
the public include fact sheets about mental health, self-help book suggestions, and other multimedia resources.

Anxiety

Anxiety Disorders Association of Canada
The ADAC is a leader in education, training, and research for anxiety and stress-related disorders. This 
website offers self-help resources and general information about each of the anxiety disorders.

Obsessive Compulsive Foundation
The International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) is an international not-for-profit organization made up of people 
with OCD and related disorders, as well as their families, friends, professionals and others. The goals of the
IOCDF are to improve access to resources for those with OCD and to raise awareness and improve the 
quality of treatment provided. This website has brochures, fact sheets,  books, and multimedia tools, as well 
as articles written by experts in the treatment of OCD.

Depression 

Canadian Mental Health Association
The CMHA-BC Division exists to promote the mental health of British Columbians and support the resilience 
and recovery of people experiencing mental illness. This website offers information about educational events, 
research and advocacy, as well as a guide to depression treatment.

Health Canada -  Depression
It's Your Health is a joint publication produced by Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada 
that provides information you can trust on a wide range of health and safety issues. This website offers 
articles about the causes and symptoms of and treatment for depression.

Mood Disorders Canada
Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is a national, not for profit, consumer driven, voluntary health      
charity committed to ensuring that the voices of consumers, family members and caregivers are heard 
on issues relating to mental health and mental illness; and in particular with regard to depression, bipolar 
illness and other associated mood disorders.

Eating Disorders

National Eating Disorders Information Center
NEDIC is a Canadian, non-profit organization, established to provide information and resources on 
disordered eating and weight preoccupation. This website offers a resource library of books, articles, videos, 
and fact sheets, as well as a service provider directory.

Jessie's Legacy
Jessie's Legacy provides eating disorders prevention education, resources and support for BC youth, families, educators and professionals. Jessie’s Legacy services and resources are primarily web-based, but they also offer telephone support and psycho-education groups.

Academy for Eating Disorders
AED is an international professional association committed to leadership in disordered eating research, 
education, treatment, and prevention. This website offers resources for the public in the form of documents, 
videos, and articles.

Overeaters Anonymous
Overeaters Anonymous offers a treatment program for compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and    
Twelve Traditions of OA. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions.

Addictions

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health
CAMH is Canada’s leading addiction and mental health organization, integrating specialized clinical care with 
research, education, health promotion and policy development. This website provides concise information 
about addictions and mental health issues.

National Institute of Drug Abuse
NIDA's mission is to bring the power of science to bear on the treatment and prevention of substance abuse 
and addiction and to inform policy. This website offers information to patients, parents, teachers, students, and 
medical professionals about various drugs of abuse and related topics, including treatment.

Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addiction
CASAA's goal is to reduce suffering caused by substance use and other addictive behaviors by 
generating high quality prevention and treatment research. CASAA is committed to sharing knowledge and 
resources with scientists, treatment providers, and individuals who are directly impacted by substance 
use. This website offers downloadable fact sheets about alcohol and drugs, as well as treatment manuals.
